Secretary
Lawrence Mattis

Lawrence Mattis gave up his career as an attorney to become the founder of Circle of Confusion, a management company representing writers and directors in the film industry. Mattis has overseen Circle’s growth from a small literary boutique into a full service bi-coastal production and management company, creating cutting-edge film and television and representing writers, directors, actors, content creators and intellectual property.

He manages clients such as The Wachowskis (THE MATRIX, SENSE8), Gary Whitta (THE BOOK OF ELI, STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE), Jon Spaihts (DUNE, PASSENGERS), and Anthony Jaswinski (THE SHALLOWS, KRISTY). Circle of Confusion produces THE WALKING DEAD franchise, and recently produced the Emmy nominated DAISY JONES AND THE SIX for Amazon. Mattis also produced the critically acclaimed WORK IN PROGRESS for Showtime and the feature films films MR. RIGHT starring Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick, MAYHEM starring Steve Yeun from The Walking Dead and CODE 3 starring Rainn Wilson and Lil Rel Howery.

Mattis received his JD from Columbia University. Despite the fact that he has been repeatedly told that the film and television business is based in Los Angeles, he continues to live and work in New York City with his wife, Frances, and his daughter, who is diagnosed with Rett syndrome.

He has been actively involved in a number of fundraising events for RSRT, including the Reverse Rett galas in NYC, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
